Studio Work My forever Model - @_kofid_

Senior Thesis Capstone Exhibition @vcuartstheanderson March 2024 Words cannot express the magnitude of emotions I felt these couple of months as I worked on my thesis project, a project that touches the basis of my deeply personal immigrant story in the United States. I decided to go back to Peru last year with the desire to share the things, places, and people who had impacted my life, but also a way for me to connect with my culture and my family, which I have not seen for more than 10 years. Leaving Peru felt heartbreaking in a way that I started wondering about the “could’ve been’s”; leaving family behind is never easy. I brought with me to the United States more than 1000+ archival photographs with the curiosity of exploring the past lives of my parents and grandparents in Peru, who then later immigrated to the US. I believe this is not the end of this body of work. I feel the need to explore and experience the places and the way of life that I only got to experience once from my maternal side of my family. As I will be graduating in a few days, I would like to say that I’m thankful to my classmates and faculty @vcuartsphotofilm that I had the privilege of meeting and working alongside them for the last 3 years.
